The SNU Lattice Gauge Theory Research Center, led by Professor Weonjong LEE (Department of Physics and Astronomy), has discovered a deficiency in the Standard Model. The Center found that regarding εK (epsilon K), a parameter of CP violation, experimental results differed from theoretical estimate in the amount of 3.4 times. The large difference between theory and reality cannot be explained by the Standard Model, which is based on CP-symmetry. This research was published in Physical Review D on January 28, 2016 under the title of “Kaon BSM B-parameters using improved staggered fermions from Nf=2+1 unquenched QCD.”
