YI Jongheop, professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering and his research team have succeeded in developing a new technique to separate hydrogen (H) from water (H2O) using the sun’s visible rays and the principle plant photosynthesis.

Professor Yi observed that “the application of this technique will make solar energy cars possible”, as this technique is more efficient and practical than the original artificial photosynthesis technique of separating hydrogen molecules from water.
