LEE Sang-Mook, professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences, established a new joint major, “Computational Science” particularly designed for physically handicapped students. Computational Science is a study in which natural phenomena is computed using simulations.
Professor Lee disabled himself a few years ago emphasized that “although the major was established primarily for disabled students, it is not only for them as it is also useful for the non-disabled as well”.
He is the supervisor of the Quality of Life Technology (QoLT) project of SNU R & DB Foundation. The project is intended for the professional development of the disabled.
Professor Lee said “I hope SNU’s project for nurturing role models of disabled engineers succeeds and spreads to other universities”.
