Professor Cha Suk-Won has developed a few-nanometer-thick oxide coating produced by atomic layer deposition in a low-temperature solid oxide fuel cell with a noble metal-based cathode. The coating is demonstrated to enhance both thermal stability and oxygen reduction activity by a significant margin. This approach is considered to be applicable to various other metal-catalyst-based high-temperature catalyses.
