Professor KIM Youn Sang (Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology) has developed a transparent element which generates enough electricity to light an LED when it touches water. When a water drop touches the surface of an object with electric charge, a change in the object’s electric charge occurs. Professor Kim succeeded in turning this change into electric energy, generating as much as 0.42㎿ per water drop. The possibility of such electricity generation has been proposed before, but scholars did not give much weight to the thought as most believed only a minimal amount of energy could be produced. Professor Kim’s work has significantly increased the amount of energy that may potentially be generated.
