Excellence in Teaching Award

Seoul National University created Excellence in Teaching Award in 2005 to honor professors who provided students with the best education and to encourage all the faculty members to put sincere efforts in teaching as well as research.

CHON YoungAe/Professor, Seoul National University Department of German Language and Literature

Professor Chon introduced new teaching methods such as debate, joint recitals, weekend membership training, and creating "one's own textbook". She led popular lectures that enabled students to actively participate and react.

KIM Sonku/Professor, Seoul National University Department of Economics

Professor Kim arranged systematic, eye-level lectures that allowed students to easily understand game and contract theories in economics. His class was Included in the list of top five lecturers in the Department of Economics survey for four consecutive years (2007 – 2010).

AN Kyungwon/Professor, Seoul National University Department of Physics and Astronomy

Professor An adopted "TEAL(Technology Enabled Active Learning)," a teaching method used at MIT, and made it suitable for the circumstances in Korea. He contributed to the qualitative improvement of general physics education by developing a new TEAL general physics course

KIM Yong-Kweon/Professor, Seoul National University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Professor Kim developed experimental teaching materials that suit the syllabus of theoretical courses, and put an emphasis on experimental education. He operated various counseling programs such as freshman assisting systems and alumni mentoring as Director of the Student Center of Electrical and Computer Engineering

YUN Seokhwa/Professor, Seoul National University Business School

Professor Yun applied various business case studies and new teaching methods to lectures. He focused on cultivating the next generation of leaders by implementing leadership development coaching sessions during EMBA lectures.
