Doosan Infracore Donates to SNU Brazilian Studies

On Friday, February 3, SNU and Doosan Infracore held a ceremony celebrating Doosan's donation to the Institute of Latin American Studies at SNU for industry-university collaborative research in the humanities.

President OH YeonCheon of SNU, CEO KIM Yong-sung of Doosan Infracore, deputy chairperson LEE Changwoo of the SNU Foundation, Professor KIM ChangMin of the Institute of Latin American Studies, and Chief KIM Chul of Doosan Infracore's Office of Planning & Coordination were present.

In accordance with Doosan Infracore's wish, SNU plans to use the fund to encourage an even better relationship between Brazil and Korea, specifically by translating and publishing academic books related to Brazil, holding academic conferences and special lectures, building a database, and introducing Brazilian culture.

The Institute of Latin American Studies at SNU will be opening the Brazilian Culture Center on campus this month, following the agreement with the Brazilian Embassy in Korea made in June 2011. The Brazilian Culture Center is expected to serve as a bridge for cultural interaction to keep pace with the increasing trade between the two countries.

Founded in 1937, Doosan Infracore is the best company in Korea in the area of construction equipment, machine tools, engines, and more. It ranks fifth in the world in construction equipment and machine tools.
