Industry-University Cooperation with Doosan Infracore

SNU College of Engineering has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Doosan Infracore initiating further Industry-University cooperation between the two.

On October 4, Professor Taejin Kang, dean of the College of Engineering, and Yong-sung Kim, president of Doosan Infracore, signed the MOU which primarily regards joining forces for the purpose of long-term cultivation of highly qualified human resources. Both SNU and Doosan Infracore will provide research funds to the College of Engineering whilst SNU will offer technological and personnel support required by Doosan Infracore’s research projects. Both sides have agreed to the establishment of a joint steering committee for industry-university cooperation. Furthermore, centered on the Doosan Institute of Technology, a research infrastructure will be created allowing the mutual exchange of research personnel.

Doosan Infracore President Yong-sung Kim said,"The signing of the MOU will allow consistent exchange between industry and university, mid-to-long-term development of new technologies, as well as the cultivation of highly qualified human resources. This will contribute to elevating the competitiveness of Korea’s machinery industry."

SNU and Doosan Infracore are currently jointly conducting 11 mid- and short-term projects, including Brain Korea 21 (BK21) research projects, and two state-supported research projects, including the development of hybrid excavators. Doosan Infracore invited engineering students from SNU and provided tours to its excavator plant in China and to the Shanghai Expo last August as part of a joint industry-university course.
