Opening of Neuteenamu Café at Jahayeon Causes Frenzy

Neuteenamu Café

The long-awaited opening of the Neuteenamu Café at Jahayeon finally opened on the 10th of April at a timely moment. The warm spring breeze and its burgeoning flowers now fill the SNU campus, creating the perfect environment for enjoying the café's famous ice cream in cold coffee. After undergoing construction work which began in December last year, the beloved café has now reopened with a renovated interior and an overall improvement in facilities.

One of the improvements is the installment of new heating machines, which keep the waffles warm and fluffy as if just coming out of the waffle maker. The café still offers take-out menu only but it now provides a wide variety of new goodies such as gelato and honey bread. All these products are sold at a fraction of the cost at franchise cafés located elsewhere on the SNU campus such as A Twosome Place, Java City, and others. For example, the honey bread is only two thousand KRW, which is approximately a third of the cost of a similar bread sold in franchise cafés.

Neuteenamu Café Inside Everyday a long line can be seen in front of the Neuteenamu Café. Newly-admitted students are thrilled with the opening, as many have already heard of the delicious waffles and ice cream in cold coffee from the upperclassmen."I heard the waffles are exquisite here. Many of my older classmates have reminisced about them. I am excited to try it!" said LEE, a freshman from the College of Social Sciences. Inside the café excited murmuring continues,"So cheap!" and"Two scoops of gelato for the cost of a single one? Wow…" are phrases that can be heard. The upgrading of the facilities has similarly caused excitement as well. The waffles are warmer than before and the environment has been modernized. More importantly, the area is more hygienic, although still compact and crowded as ever. Regardless, many people are simply happy the café is back."I'm glad they reopened. I hope it stays open throughout all my time at SNU. Neuteenamu Café is an important part of the SNU community," said SHIN from the College of Nursing.
