A 7 Billion Won Gift: The International Education Center

Seoul National University will construct an International Education Center to further stimulate its globalization and international exchange with endowment from Lotte Foundation.

The International Education Center will be a 7-story building with a basement floor. Offices for foreign professors, an office of international conferences, foreign university branches will occupy the 5,600㎡ building. Lotte Foundation agreed to donate the entire cost of 7 billion won.

SNU has invariably emphasized the importance of the internationalization of the school. The university has recently enlarged the number of foreign professors, invited internationally renowned scholars, established joint lectures and degrees, expanded international student body, and opened a Global Information Center.

The construction of International Education Center will be completed in July, 2009. The center will be situated next to CJ International Center. As the two largest buildings dedicated to the internationalization of the university, it is anticipated that the buildings will form a ‘global zone’ and play the core role in the international affairs of SNU.
