Shanghai Jiao Tong University released a new report on the world's top 100 universities in 5 different fields and stated that SNU engineering and natural sciences have ranked 7th and 13th respectively in 'Pub' indicator.

The report"Academic Ranking of World Universities by Broad Subject Fields--2007" ranked world universities by 5 different fields: natural sciences, engineering & technology, agriculture & life sciences, clinical medicine & pharmacy, and social sciences.

The ranking indicators include alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, Highly Cited Researchers, and articles indexed in the Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-E) and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI).

According to SJTU, ‘Pub’ indicates the total number of articles indexed by the Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-E) in each field and only publications of article type were considered.

SJTU releases ‘Academic Ranking of World Universities’ every year around August on their website.
