The Humanities in the Midst of COVID-19

In recent months, world leaders have mobilized seemingly every technological resource to stem the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the virus has exposed various social and psychological problems that go beyond science by nature, including deep-rooted health and social inequalities, anxiety, depression, mutual distrust and more.

To deal with this unprecedented challenge facing humanity, the humanities also have a role to play.

NOW meets Professor of English Language and Literature, Yi Dong-shin and Professor of Aesthetics, Shin Hye-kyoung, to learn more about how the humanities, including literature and art, can serve as a therapeutical antidote to the pandemic.
