Scientists created a drone with an origami arm to pick things up Scientists created a drone with an origami arm to pick things up In a study that was published in Science Robotics, the workings of the origami arm are explained as follows, it is made of seven plastic actuators. These rectangular boxes are stacked on top of each other and when unfolded they extend to 27.5″. The arm folds almost completely flat and can easily be mounted underneath a drone and not cause any problems while flying. Mar 16, 2018
Mar 16, 2018
Forget batteries: this tiny, wriggly robot runs on moisture Forget batteries: this tiny, wriggly robot runs on moisture Researchers at Seoul National University in South Korea, have created robots that can “inchworm” forward by absorbing humidity from their surrounding environment. The so-called hygrobots, described this week in the journal Science Robotics, can crawl, wriggle back and forth, and twist like a snake. And in the future, they could be used for a variety of applications, including delivering drugs to human skin. Mar 15, 2018
Mar 15, 2018
This drone has an origami arm that unfolds to pick up objects This drone has an origami arm that unfolds to pick up objects Scientists attached the arm to a drone. When equipped with finger-like grippers, the arm could grab an object at the bottom of a ditch. When equipped with a camera, it could take video among tree branches. Mar 15, 2018
Seoul National University Nature plants a seed of engineering inspiration Researchers in South Korea have quantitatively deconstructed what they describe as the "ingenious mobility strategies" of seeds that self-burrow rotationally into soil. This is an example of the many ways nature uses biological geometry to provide plants with muscle-like capabilities. Jan 29, 2018
Seoul National University Recently discovered historical records show presence of comfort women on Chuuk Islands On Dec. 11, the city of Seoul and the research team of professor Chung Chin-sung of the Seoul National University Human Rights Center announced the discovery of evidence showing that 26 Korean comfort women had lived on the Chuuk Islands.
