- First Day (Students whose student ID number ends with an odd number):

*** Some classes have separate rules according to which class registration is processed; please thoroughly read the notice on classes with separate rules and beware of these rules when registering.
** Limitations apply on retaking courses (only for undergraduate students): Starting with the 2006 spring semester, only students who received a C+ or below in a course may retake it. However, to retake a course from the 2007 summer semester, students must register during the Class Modification Period, Monday Sept 3 ~ Friday Sept 7, 2007.

2. Even if the class registration is completed, if students do not complete the registration / returning process during the designated time period, the class registration record will be deleted and students will not receive credit. Please contact your respective department offices for more information.
3. Registration: Students may register for classes online at http://sugang.snu.ac.kr. Note that if students try to register in an abnormal manner, they will not be able to log in for 30 minutes.

Students can register to retake any course they took during the 2007 summer semester during the registration modification period in the fall semester, Monday Sept 3, 2007 ~ Friday Sept 7, 2007
** Such limitations apply only to undergraduate students. Graduate students may retake courses according to previous regulations.

2. Location: Any computer with internet access
3. Procedure
Read and search the class schedules and relevant notices => receive advice from professors and heads of department => register online
4. Class registration site (http://sugang.snu.ac.kr)
※ If any student attempts to connect in an abnormal manner, he/she will not be able to log in for the next 30 minutes.
5. Notes
A. If students do not take appropriate measures to return to school and/or to enroll, class registration record will be deleted and students will not receive credit, regardless of the completion of the class registration process.
B. Only students whose GPA of the previous two semesters is greater than 3.3 may register for up to 21 credits.
(Summer semester is not included in the previous two semesters. The original GPA of the semester, unaltered by course retake, is taken into account.)
C. Classes cannot overlap, and students are advised to log out after completing class registration.
D. Classes that have a maximum number of students will only take that many students. Classes that do not provide such information may adjust the number of students as well.
E. Students should protect their passwords from being exposed.
* To change password: Log in at http://portal.snu.ac.kr -> Student Administration -> Personal information-> Basic information -> Click 'edit' (on top right) -> Type new password
F. Credits to take per semester: Consult your respective department office.
G. Course plans can be viewed at the SNU website.
H. Students with disabilities can e-mail (leesoyou@snu.ac.kr) or fill out a class registration draft form and submit it to the student administration office. Please record your personal information when e-mailing.

Special notices for the 2007 fall semester |
□ Some classes have been closed or newly opened. Please make sure of these changes by doing the following:
Log in at http://portal.snu.ac.kr -> Student administration -> Class management -> Courses -> Search for identical/substitutive classes or log in on the class registration site -> search for identical classes
-During the registration process, if students click on a class that they already took, a message will pop up. If students go on to select that class, they will automatically be signed up as retaking that course.
□ Registration modification period is in the beginning of September. Students can only modify up to 6 credits.
□ College of Law, College of Social Sciences, and College of Business Administration have separate regulations for student selection. Take note of these regulations by referring to the notice on classes with separate regulations.
□ The rules for elective classes are as follows.
① Students must register for classes according to the SNU elective courses requirement rules.
② Foundations of Learning courses must be taken in the first 4 semesters, unless otherwise noted. These courses cannot be taken after the 7th semester, with the exception of their being retaken.
③ More than 3 assignments must be given each semester, and if students are absent for more than 1/4 of the semester, they will receive an F.
□ The following courses are specifically for freshmen: registration for these courses will be allowed to freshmen only on Aug 1 (Wed) and Aug 2 (Thurs). Other students who wish to register may do so starting on Aug 3 (Fri).
* Courses: College Korean, College English, Core Electives, Foundations of Learning- Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Science, Earth Environmental Science, Astronomy, Atmosphere Science, Earth System Science, Oceanography, Statistics, Computer Theory and Lab, Basics of Computer, Computer Theory, and other courses related to basic sciences.
□ Special Notice for College English, Advanced English, Basic English classes
○ Requirements:
1. College English: Students who have taken a Basic English class, students with a TEPS score of 551~750, or a TOEFL score 523~582 (CBT 193~236, iBT 70~92), students who participated in SNU's SNU-University of Jeju English camp program and have received a certain grade.
① Students entering in year 2005 and before follow previous regulations.
② Students entering in year 2006 and since, as well as all students of School of Nursing must receive a score of 501-700 or TOEFL 503-559(CBT 177-219, iBT 63-84)..
③ Regardless of entering year, School of Music, School of Art, and the Department of Physical Education require students with a TEPS score of 501-700 or TOEFL 503-557(CBT 177-217, iBT 63-84).
2. Advanced English: Students with a TEPS score of over 751, or a TOEFL score of over 583 (CBT 237, iBT 93), students who have taken a College English class can register for Advanced English classes.
① Students entering in year 2005 and before must have a TEPS score of 701 or higher, or a TOEFL score of 560(CBT 220, iBT 85) or higher.
② Students entering in year 2006 and since, as well as all students of School of Nursing must have a TEPS score 701 or higher, or a TOEFL score of 560(CBT 220, iBT 85) or higher.
③ Regardless of entering year, School of Music, School of Art, and the Department of Physical Education require students with a TEPS score of 701 or higher, TOEFL 560(CBT 220, iBT 85)or higher.
3. Basic English: Students who have a TEPS score of 550 or lower, or a TOEFL score of TOEFL 522(CBT 192, iBT 69522 or lower, or students who have neither scores may register. However, for students entering in year 2005 and before as well as students entering in year 2006 and since, and all students in the School of Nursing need a TEPS score of 500 or lower or a TOEFL score of 502(CBT 176, iBT 62) or lower to register.
※ Students cannot take Basic English and College English simultaneously. After taking Basic English, students must take College English.
○ Special notices for College English and Advanced English classes: contact 880-5881 for more information.
Only students who have submitted their TEPS or TOEFL scores before the registration modification period may take College English and Advanced English classes. Please refer to the class schedule book and be aware of the registration requirements before registering. Students could receive an F for registering
○ Students taking Basic, College, Advanced English classes must complete a LAB course.
- The LAB course for College English classes consists of 'multimedia English learning center' and visits to the 'English writing center'.
- LAB grades make up 15% of Basic English grade and 10% of College English and Advanced English grades.
-Basic English students must visit the multimedia English learning center once a semester and must receive two tutorial sessions per semester at the English writing center. Grades from these sessions make up 15% of the entire grade.
- College English students must visit the multimedia English learning center once a semester and receive one tutorial session at the English writing center. These grades make up 5% of the entire grade.
- Advanced English students must visit the multimedia English learning center twice a semester. These grades make up 10% of the entire grade.
- If students are retaking any course with a College/Advanced English class, they must complete the LAB course.
- Starting year 2006 no student is exempt from the LAB course. Students who were previously exempt must complete the LAB course if they wish to take another class.
○ Please be aware of all the regulations regarding these classes before registering.
○ Since the 2004 fall semester, students who participated in the summer English camp program and have received a certain grade may register for College English classes without having to take a Basic English class.

□ Special Notice on Freshmen Seminars
* The Freshmen Seminar course that newly opens in the 2007 fall semester is divided into two classes, 'First-come-first-serve class registration' class and 'E-mail interview' class. Students should be aware of this difference before registration
A. First-come-first-serve Registration Class
- Individually register online during the registration period.
B. E-mail interview class
① Friday July 20, 2007 ~ Wednesday July 25, 2007: Write an essay of about a page discussing yourself, the reason you are registering for this class, what you wish to learn from this class, etc. Email it to the professor.
※ The format of the essay is on the Faculty of Liberal Education site => Open Board => Information Board
② The professor will submit the list of students who passed the e-mail interview by July 27 (Fri) to the Faculty of Liberal Education => Faculty of Liberal Education will register those students
※ The result of the interview will be personally announced to you.
③ For classes with extra room, students may register during the class registration period (Aug 1 ~ Aug 7, 2007) or the registration modification period (Sept 3 ~ Sept 7, 2007) regardless of the e-mail interview.
* Other information:
A. Registration is allowed to freshmen only. (However, students entering before 2006 may apply if they were enrolled for less than 2 semesters.)
B. Students may only register once. Students who took the freshmen seminar class in the spring semester may not register.
C. Students receive an S/U grade.
D. Students may not retake the course.
E. Students can take one more credit regardless of credit limitation, with the exception of students of the College of Medicine, College of Dentistry, and College of Veterinary Medicine.

□ Students taking Physics 2, Physics, Physics for Bioscience 2, Chemistry 2, Chemistry, Biology 2, Biology, Earth Science, Earth Environmental Science, Astronomy, Atmosphere Science, Earth System Science, Oceanography, Statistics must also take lab experiment classes in the same semester..
□ Students who registered for 「Physics Experiments 2(010.313) 001~016 and Physics Experiment (010.316)」must request an allocation in an experiment class at http://phylab.snu.ac.kr.
□ Students who registered for「Chemistry Experiment 2(010.318) 001～002 and 「Chemistry Experiment(010.319)」must request an allocation in an experiment class at http://chem1.snu.ac.kr/~chemlab.
□ Students are responsible to pay for the usage of facilities for Swimming (Posco IB Swimming Pool), Golf (In-school, Out-of-school classes), and Bowling (Royal Bowling Center).
□ College Korean courses are separated according to each College, specifically for students of that college. Students must register for classes designated to their respective colleges.
□ Students who have taken the "College Korean" class can take a writing class.
□ Students wishing to retake Engineering Mathematics 2 (010.141) must register for classes <19~22 Retake courses>.
□ Students who have taken Advanced Math and Practices 1, and/or students who have taken Math and Practices 1 and have received an A+ may take Advanced Math and Practices 2 (010.104).
□ Students who registered for the English classes for graduate students, 'Advanced English Academic Presentation (990.664) and 'Advanced English Academic Composition (990.666), must check with their respective department offices whether these classes are counted towards the number of credits they must meet to graduate.

Manual - Class Registration Information
1. Important Information regarding Class Registration
① Students cannot log in on multiple computers with one student id number.
② Students cannot register for multiple student id numbers on one computer.
③ Class registration cannot be processed without a security module.
2. Necessary steps prior to class registration
① OS : Windows 98 or greater, Internet Explorer version 6.0 or greater
② Set the exact date and time of the computer.
③ Internet Explorer Menu-> Internet Option-> Temporary Internet Files-> Find out the new version of saved pages, confirm 3000MB or more of disc space
④ Delete all cookie files (Log-in error may occur if the information of previous user remains on the computer): Internet Explorer menu-> Internet Option-> Delete cookie files (including offline items)-> close Internet Explorer
⑤ Register snu.ac.kr as a site that users can trust: Internet Explorer-> Tools-> Internet Option-> Safety Tab-> Sites users can trust-> Add snu.ac.kr
⑥ Delete any Pop-Up Killer program on the computer, then reconnect: Google tool bar, MSN tool bar, Yahoo tool bar, Dreamwiz tool bar, etc.- delete all Pop-Up Killer function
⑦ If the 보안 module is not automatically activated, students may download it from the class registration site and activate it. (If automatically installed, find it at C:\WINDOWS(WINNT)\system32\IssacWebSE.dll)
3. Class Registration Site: http://sugang.snu.ac.kr
1) Type in your student id number (including -), birthday, password. Click on "Agree" below and log in.
Basic password is the last 7 digits of your social security number.
2) To change your password: Log in at http://portal.snu.ac.kr -> Student Administration -> Personal Information -> Basic Information 'Class Registration Password Change'
3) If you do not remember your password and do not have a portal account, contact the student office at 880-5042, 5043. During early class registration period, the first 3 hours (06:00~09:00) of the first 3 days, call the electronic center at 880-5370.
4. Log- in Error Messages
① "Check your student id number and log in" : You have mistyped your student id number, or you are not allowed to register for classes.
② Moving to the log-in page": Previous information is on the computer; try reconnecting.
③ "You are already logged in" or "Log- in properly" ": Delete all cookie files, close Internet Explorer and then try reconnecting.
5. How to register
① Type in subject number and class number, then click on the inquire button. When you click on the subject name, the respective time slot will be filled on the bottom right.
② Click on the save button to complete registration; you may recheck your registration record on the bottom.
Only students who have previously selected a community service institution or program may register for Community Service I, II classes
- Go to http://liberaledu.snu.ac.kr: Go to "Search Community Service Institution and Sign up for Community Service" page and sign up (A week prior to class registration)
- Refer to the site or call the community service office at 880-4007 for more information.
6. Course Retake Information
① When you click on the 'save' button of the class you wish to retake, it will automatically be registered along with the semester information in which you last took the course. When you see the icon below, click okay.
② If you wish to retake a course with a substituting course, click on the save button, then click on the edit button (or inquire class information and click on the name of the class). On the right window, check "retake", type in the semester that you wish to retake the course in, check the course you wish to retake, and click on the save button.
Please check the available substituting courses prior to registration.
③ Notice: Limitations to course retake apply: Starting from 2006 spring semester, students can only retake courses in which they received a C+ or below.
7. Error messages:
① ‘'There is no such course': Students need to meet certain qualifications to take these courses. Qualifications will appear next to the course. For more information, call 880-5690 for elective courses, and contact the student administration office (880-5042) for major courses.
② Course retake error messages:
A) "You received a B- or above” Students cannot retake a course in which they received a B- or above beginning with the 2006 spring semester. This limitation does not apply to courses taken before the 2006 spring semester.
B) 'Grade not yet confirmed':
a) In the early registration period of the fall semester, grades for the summer semester classes are not yet available. Therefore, students cannot register to retake the course that they took during the summer semester of that year. They may register during the Registration Modification period (the first week of each semester).
b) Similarly, the course that the students took in the spring semester cannot be retaken in the summer semester of that year because the grading process ends in mid-July.
