Korea Immigration Service - Migration Policy Paper Contest

Application Eligibility

- University students, graduate students, general public (foreigners residing in Korea included)

- Research groups of up to 3 people (each researcher should be eligible for application)

 

* As the purpose of the paper is to promote the development of general publics’ migration policy research, people with a Ph.D. degree and professional researchers are not eligible for application.

 

Subject of the paper

- Desirable aims of Korea’s social integration policies

- Ways of performing multicultural engagement policies through studying the Korean Immigration Service’s migration policy examples

Ways of implementing open migration policies to improve national competitiveness

- Plans to establish an international immigration cooperation system in order to activate human resource exchanges

 

Contest schedule

- Application Period: Wednesday, February 20th ~ Sunday, April 20th, 2008

- Paper Examination: Monday, April 21st ~ Saturday, May 10th, 2008

- Winner Announcement: Thursday, May 15th 2008

(individuals will be noticed and an announcement will go up on the homepage)

- Awarding Date: Tuesday, May 20th, 2008 - the first ‘Citizens of the World’ day

 

Application Methods

- Application form: fill out according to the given form (downloadable from website)

- Paper length: approximately 30 pages (you are required to use the ‘Hangeul’ program for the submission of the final paper)

- Font: 휴먼명조(hu-man-myung-jo)

- Font size: 13

- Sentence space: 160 points (equivalent to single spaced)

- horizontal margin: 20 points

-  vertical margin:10 points

- The paper is required to be in a thesis format.

- If the paper is written in a foreign language, a Korean version also needs to be submitted separately.

- Paper summary: around 3 pages (same format as the full version)

- Submission: via e-mail (ykh001@moj.go.kr)

Applicants are required to confirm their application status after sending the e-mail.

Details to Note

- Submitted papers will not be returned and all authorities revert to the organizers.

- In the use of quotations, the original text needs to be clearly cited. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Please include a bibliography page if necessary.

- If it is determined that there is a lack of papers above a certain level after the examination process, the awarding details may be altered.  Prize-related taxes are charged to each awardee.

- Papers that have been previously published in other journals and publications are not eligible for application and if any wrongdoings in the process of receiving the prize are discovered, even after the awarding, prizes will be cancelled and the award certificate and prize money will be redeemed (the responsibility reverts to the individual.)
