Jun 23, 2011 Academic Aid for the Japan Earthquake Victims Nearly two months have passed since the disastrous Great East Japan Earthquake hit. The Japanese nation, and moreover the global community, has witnessed triple disasters all in a row-the earthquake, the tsunami, and then the Fukushima nuclear crisis. And in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, Japan received generous donations from all over the world to reconstruct her cities in the Tohoku region. Jun 22, 2011 I Love SNU Party Held at Global House The “I Love SNU Party” was held on Friday, May 20, celebrating Together Day, a holiday designated by the Korean government to foster tolerance towards people of different ethnic backgrounds. The party, hosted by SSA (SNU student ambassadors), was planned as a recreational event for Korean and foreign students, which is why it was held at Global House (the SNU dormitory pub), a convenient location for the foreign students living on campus. May 17, 2011 New Airport Limousine Bus from the Rear Gate to Incheon Airport The new line will depart from Hoam Faculty House, thus making it all the more convenient for foreign students and faculty members who reside in the school dormitories and apartments near the rear gate. In addition, the new bus line will use buses which only accommodate 29 persons per ride, compared to the 41 passenger limo buses of the existing line, thus providing for more personal space. May 17, 2011 Making a Brighter Campus Every year many university students suffer from depression and about 300 students commit suicide. After the recent deaths of 4 students at KAIST, depression in university students is becoming a nationwide issue. The fact that most of the students who died were suffering from depression, raises concern over what is causing students' depression and whether there are effective solutions. May 17, 2011 Teaching and Learning from Your Peers The Korean tutoring program is targeted towards foreign students who are not familiar with the Korean language. They can receive lessons from peer tutors to help them in their 'College Korean' class and practice reading and speaking in Korean with their tutors. Also, since the tutees are not familiar with the Korean language and culture, they can practice reading Korean novels, poetry and newspapers or watch Korean movies with their tutors.
