Grad Students Recieve Best Paper Awards

Two SNU students received best paper awards at the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics’ (ASPET’s) Experimental Biology 2007 award ceremony.

The students, Won Dong Kim (25) and Sung Hwan Ki (31) are both doctoral students at Seoul National University, studying in Professor Sang Geon Kim’s laboratory of pharmacokinetics in the University’s College of Pharmacy.

Kim was awarded the Graduate Student’s Best Paper award while Ki was awarded the Graduate Student Travel Award.

After undergoing stringent examinations by ASPET, the awards were conferred upon students who have submitted the most outstanding research papers. Kim received his award on April 28, 2007 for his paper titled"The role of Gα12/Gα13 as novel switches for the activity of Nrf2", while Ki received his award on May 1, 2007 for his paper titled"Gα12 specifically regulates COX-2 induction by sphingosine 1-phosphate". The awards and prize money were given at award ceremonies held on both days during the ASPET Experimental Biology 2007 conference. The details of the awards can be found at www.aspen.com.
