SNU Ad Fontes Program (AFP), a humanities program for prominent leaders from various sectors of society, is currently recruiting new participants for the upcoming Fall 2018 session. “Ad Fontes,” a Latin expression meaning “back to the sources,” represents the program’s objective to provide leaders with “fundamental” wisdom necessary for innovation and for widening perspectives on human life and living.

Founded in 2007, the program covers a broad expanse of the humanities, ranging from Asian philosophy to world history and literature. “Knowledge of the humanities gives us an opportunity to reflect upon what it means to be ourselves and lead meaningful lives, regardless of fame or success,” said Lee Jae-Young, Dean of the College of Humanities.

SNU AFP is a 20-week program with classes that meet every Tuesday night from 6:30 PM to 9:40 PM, at Doosan Humanities Hall. This session (August 28, 2018 - January 8, 2019), students will be able to broaden their horizons through lectures such as The Analects of Confucius for Leaders (Professor Lee Kangjae of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature), The Korean Language and Leonardo Da Vinci (Professor Kim Seong-Kyu of the Department of Korean Language and Literature), Exploring Independence and Occupation Through Letters (Professor Chung Yong Wook of the Department of Korean History), Louis XIV and Europe (Professor Jou KyungChul of the Department of Western History), AI and Our Lives (Professor Kim Kihyeon of the Department of Philosophy) as well as one workshop session in Korea (September 14-15) and one overseas (October 26-28).

Applications are available on the SNU AFP homepage (http://www.snuafp.com/) and close on August 10, 2018.
