Information for Newly Admitted Students

Information for Newly Admitted Students (Including students of Korean Origin) For Fall 2007 International Admission

1. Payment of Tuition Fee for Enrollment

1) Payment Period: Monday 8/20/07 ∼ Friday 8/24/07

2) Printing Tuition Bill: Information regarding printing one’s tuition bill will be announced on the Seoul National University Office of Admissions website (http://admission.snu.ac.kr). Students must make the full payments according to the payment instructions within the announced payment period to be enrolled for the term.

3) Payment Location: Nonghyup Bank or Shinhan Bank nationwide (subject to change; refer to the Tuition Bill)

* Note: Students must complete the registration procedure by the notified deadline.

(Enrollment after the payment period will not be allowed.)

2. Korean Proficiency Test

1) Test Subjects: Only applicable to the designated students who are notified to sit for the Korean Proficiency Test. (The KPT requirement will be indicated as a ‘O’ mark next to the each name on the admitted studensts’ list on SNU webpage.)

2) Test Date: Monday 8/20/07 at 14:00

3) Test Location: Language Education Institute (Tel No. 02-880-5488,5483)

4) Test Fee: 15,000 Korean Won (Please pay the test fee to the registrar in Room 101 at the New Building of Language Education Institute BEFORE taking the test.)

5) Must bring official identification (Passport recommended)

6) Announcement of Test Results: End of August, 2007

at their respective college & department administration offices.

 * Note: Students whose Korean proficiency is found to be less than adequate to effectively participate in class (i.e. Level 4 and below) could be restricted in the enrollment period of coursework and number of course credits. Whether the said restrictions would be applied is decided based on the discretion of their respective departments.

3. Housing Application

1) Gwanaksa Application for 2007 Fall Semester (September 2007   December 2007)  

Please visit SNU Gwanaksa webpage (http://dorm.snu.ac.kr).

Application Period (Korean time):

- Monday 7/9/07   Friday 7/13/07

2) Payment and Document Submission

Round 1

- Result Notification: Monday 8/6/07

- Payment and Document Submission: Tuesday 8/7/07   Friday 8/10/07

Round 2

- Result Notification: Monday 8/13/07

- Payment and Document: Tuesday 8/14/07   Friday 8/17/07

Round 3

- Result Notification: Monday 8/20/07

- Payment and Document: Tuesday 8/21/07   Friday 8/24/07

3) Move-In Date/Time

Residents can move in starting Sunday afternoon on 8/26/07 (13:00 ~18:00)

* Monday   Saturday: starting 19:00

* Sunday: 13:00 ~ 18:00

4) Please direct your inquiries regarding dormitory selection and entrance procedure to Office of International Affairs (ckwen@snu.ac.kr, 82-2-880-5402).

4. Students who submitted proof of pending graduation or pending presentation of degree  

Students who have submitted proof of pending graduation or pending presentation of degree must submit the original copy of the graduation or degree certificate to the Office of Admissions by August 31st (Fri.), 2007.  Unless there exists special reason for failure to submit said documents, the admission may be rescinded.

* Certificate of degree (Bachelors, Masters) from China would need to include degree certificate from China Academic Degree and Graduate Education Development Center (refer to http://www.cdgcd.edu.cn)

5. Students who submitted photocopies of degree certificate (diploma), transcript and other certificates

Students who have submitted a photo copy of degree certificate (diploma), transcript or other certificates are required to submit the original to the Office of Admissions by August 31st (Fri.), 2007.

* Certificate of degree (Bachelors, Masters) from China would need to include degree certificate from China Academic Degree and Graduate Education Development Center (refer to http://www.cdgcd.edu.cn)

6. Submission of Academic Information Release Agreement Form and School Contact Information

Documents of Academic Information Release Agreement Form and School Contact Information on the provided additional form must be submitted by August 31st (Fri.), 2007.

AIRA Form 1(for Foreign Students except Chinese Foreign students),

AIRA Form 2 (for Chinese Student),

AIRA Form 3 (for Student of Korean Origin).

7. Miscellaneous

1) Certificates of Admission for admitted students will be mailed to the applicants from the day of June 28th (Th.), 2007. If you want to retrieve the Certificate of Admission in person, you may visit the Office of International Affairs (02-880-8635) at SNU.

2) Please be aware that if students who are required to submit said documents at 5. and 6. fail to submit those by August 28th (Th.), 2007 for no exceptional reason, their admissions may be rescinded or may be penalized.
