Professor Richard A. Muller Gives a Lecture at SNU

Professor Richard Muller (University of California, Berkeley) gave a lecture on the theme of “Energy, Climate Change and Science Technology” at the SNU Global Engineer House on September 5. Professor Muller founded Berkeley Earth, a non-profit organization which focuses on global warming. He argued that ‘economic feasibility’ is a prerequisite for any alternative energy that can prevent global warming. Professor Muller pointed out that current alternative energy sources are unrealistic, as solar heat generation costs three to six times more than nuclear energy generation. “Nuclear energy may not be reusable, but it is a sustainable alternative energy,” he said. “To meet the enormous energy demand of developing countries, the use of nuclear energy and shale gas would be appropriate.”
