Former Judge Appointed Professor of Philosophy

The College of Humanities announced that a graduate of SNU College of Law and a former judge at the Seoul Eastern District Court, Mr. KIM Hyunseop, has been appointed an assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy. In 1999, Mr. Kim passed the bar at the age of 21, becoming the youngest person to pass the bar that year, and went on to finish the Judicial Research and Training Institute in 2nd place. However, he could not hide his love of philosophy and enrolled in a master’s degree program in philosophy at SNU. His judicial career ended in 2006, when he went to NYU to obtain a doctorate degree in philosophy. This is the first time that someone with a legal profession background has become a professor in the College of Humanities.
