New Research Support for Undergraduates

SNU has established an undergraduate research funding program to encourage undergraduates’ research activities. There have been several cases of funding undergraduates’ research through laboratory internships in each college. But this undergraduate research funding program plans to support students for the first time at the university level. The program is for 3rd and 4th year students. Students can organize research teams consisting of 1 person to 3 people and also can choose their own academic advisers. The program provides 3 million won to a single individual researcher, 5 million won to a 2 person team and 7 million won to a 3 person team. Thirty-six research projects were selected to be supported among 78 applications. SNU gives the President’s Award to 5 outstanding projects upon evaluation of final research results and also supports expenditures for paper publication and presentations.
