[Research] Professor Fuller W. Bazer of SNU's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences discovered that fructose is an essential nutrient for pregnant women. He showed that fructose makes the placenta healthy and synthesizes amino acids, which helps keep the pregnancy. The research team announced that their study can help develop new medicines. Their research has been published in the May issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences(PNAS). Professor Bazer is an Emeritus Professor at Texas A&M University, and currently is affiliated to SNU as a WCU Professor.

[Award] SNU's College of Engineering selected Mr. CHEONG Soo Hyun, the CEO of Hyundai Construction, and Dr. KWAK Do Chan at NASA as 'Honorable Alumni of SNU's College of Engineering'. The award ceremony will be held at noon on June 13 at the Engineer House in SNU. Mr. Cheong was recognized for his contribution to the development of Korean infrastructure industry. Dr. Kwak’s work helped create the engine of the space shuttle Discovery.
